Simple Ways to Prep Your Apartment for Autumn
If you love to cozy up with a pumpkin spice coffee on your couch, you’re in luck, because it’s that time of year. In order to make your home as comfy and cute an autumn oasis as possible, here are a few design tips inspired by fall.
Incorporate dried flowers and wreaths. Fall is the season of harvest, so embrace autumn-inspired floral accents. Hang a rustic dried wreath on the door or fill vases with dried lavender and other favorite botanicals. You can also go for fresh autumn flowers, like mums.
- Add lots of cozy layers. Once you start to dress in cozy layers and sweaters, it’s time to dress your couch and bed the same way. Toss on plush pillows and throw blankets in fabrics and textures that are warm and comfy, like fleece or velvet.
Embrace autumn scents. Another way you can prep your home for autumn is by filling it with distinctly fall-inspired scents. Find candles that emanate aromas inspired by a fall bonfire, pumpkin pie, or any other warm and rich smell (like vanilla or cinnamon). If you’re not into candles, try an essential oil diffuser with a Thanksgiving or autumn oil.
- Don’t forget the dining room. You might spend so much time revamping your living room for fall that you forget all about the dining room, but it’s a great spot to celebrate the season. Design a centerpiece vignette using your favorite fall pieces, such as mini pumpkins, gourds, and pine cones.
