Cincinnati Residents Say ‘NOPE’ to Duke Energy’s Proposed Pipeline

Opposition to Duke Energy's proposed natural gas pipeline is mounting. If approved, the 12-mile-long, 20-inch-wide pipeline — pressurized up to 400 pounds per square inch — will cut a path right through Sycamore Township, between the Lebanon and Norwood areas of Cincinnati.

Since it was first proposed to the Ohio Power Siting Board, Duke Energy has reduced the size of the pipeline; however, neighbors remain steadfast in their opposition. “Accidents can happen no matter how many regulations are in place and natural gas is highly combustible,” says Ronna Lucas, a founding member of Neighbors Opposing Pipeline Extension (NOPE) in an article on Cincinnati.com.
