One of them is figuring out how to keep your beloved pup off the couch. Just because he&#39;s your BFF doesn&#39;t mean he&#39;s reserved the right to snuggle up with you after a muddy summer walk. Just follow these three tips, and you&#39;ll have no trouble training him to stay in his proper place.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Set the ground rules early on. <\/strong> When dogs are teensy and adorable, it&#39;s really hard to say no to them. But if you indulge that pint-sized puppy, before you know it, you&#39;ll have a huge dog on your hands and on your couch. As tough as it is, set the precedent that pooches aren&#39;t allowed on the couch as early on as possible, and make sure everyone who lives in your home consistently adheres to the policy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Provide another equally comfy option. <\/strong>Okay, so your pup isn&#39;t allowed on the couch. Where&#39;s he supposed to go? Give him an alternative that&#39;s equally cozy and inviting, like a plush dog bed. Place it in the living room so he can still hang out with you while you lounge on the couch without shedding on the upholstery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Offer rewards for obedience. <\/strong>It&#39;s going to take some time for your dog to understand the rules, even if you lay them down right away.
